BURTON RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB CODE OF CONDUCT PLAYERS
All members agree to abide by the relevant Code of Conduct and understand the consequences if they breach the Code of Conduct. Burton Rugby Football Club Codes of Conduct ensure that:
•The rights, dignity and worth of young people are respected and treated
•The physical and emotional well being of all players must be placed above all other considerations
•The relationship developed between adults and young people with whom they work must be based on mutual trust and respect
•All activities undertaken are appropriate to the age, maturity, experience and ability of players
•Everyone, including coaches, officials, doctors, physiotherapists etc. should ensure the well being, safety and enjoyment of all players
•The positive aspects of the sport e.g. fair play must be promoted
•Behaviour contrary to the spirit of the Laws of the Game or relevant regulations, or the use of prohibited techniques or substances will never be condoned
The Code of Conduct for PLAYERS ensures that:
•Players are encouraged to recognise and appreciate the efforts made by coaches, parents, match officials and administration in providing the opportunity to play the game and enjoy the rugby environment
•Players understand the values of loyalty and commitment to adults and team mates
•Players recognise that every player has a right to expect their involvement in rugby to be safe and free from all types of abuse
•Players understand that if an individual or group of players feel that they are not being treated in a manner which is acceptable, then they should tell a club official
•Players play because they want to do so, and not to please others
•Skill development, fun and enjoyment are the most important parts of the game
•Players are attentive at all training and coaching sessions
•Players work equally hard for themselves and their team
•Good play is recognised by all players and their team, and by their opponents
•Sportsmanship is key – win with dignity, lose with grace
•Players should play to the IRB Laws of the Game and accept, without question, all referees’ decisions even if they appear to make a mistake
•Players should control their emotions. Verbal or physical abuse of team mates, opponents, coaches, match officials or spectators is not acceptable
•All players are treated as they would like to be treated themselves. Do not interfere with, bully or take advantage of any player
